Firms demonstrating excellence in their field were awarded at this year’s Boston Business Awards – held at the Princess Royal Sports Arena.
Receiving the top accolade of Business of the Year 2014 was Rolec Services Limited – which also scooped the Manufacturer of the Year Award.
Described as ‘one of the world’s leading specialists in the design, manufacturing and installation of electrical connections and distribution equipment’, Rolec Service was established in 1990. It has been located in Frampton for the last three years.
The award was presented to the firm by Peter Lawson, of Chattertons Solicitors, which sponsored the award.
Nathan Black from Rolec Services said it was ‘an amazing feeling’ to win.
“We’re proud to represent Boston and pleased to have won the awards,” he said. “We do electric vehicle charging, which is really taking off at the moment, we do marinas all around the world and we’ve got agents in 40 countries. We do power solutions for events, music concerts and hook-ups for leisure and caravan parks all around the country.”
The runners-up in the Business of the Year category were Optic-Kleer Ltd, a
successful windscreen repair companies, based in Cowbridge, Boston, and DWB Boston Ltd, a firm established since 2009 which produces industry-recognised timber engineered products. They were described as having developed a reputation for quality and service with offices across the country.
The manufacturing award was sponsored by Boston College, which plans to build a brand-new engineeing, manufacturing and technology centre.
The two runners-up in this category were DWB Boston Limited and Fogarty Filled Products - the latter being described as ‘an iconic name in the UK’ which started business in Boston in 1877 and manufactures quilts and
