Fund-raisers in Carlton-in-Lindrick have raised £894 to help disabled and terminally ill children in Notts.

The event – at the Blue Bell Inn at the start of June– was organised by colleagues from the village’s Central England Co-operative store in support of Newlife Foundation for Disabled Children.

Newlife is the UK’s leading children’s disability charity and is Central England Co-operative’s staff-elected charity, and since the partnership was launched two years ago an amazing £519,895 has been raised.

To date, this has funded specialist disability equipment for 226 children in the retailer’s trading area.

This has included a specialist bed, car seats, sensory equipment and seating systems for children in Notts.

Organiser Carole Goode said: “The local response to the craft fair was very positive, and we all had a great evening.”

“I am so pleased with the fund-raising total, which is going to a good cause.”
