It’s time to roll out the picnic baskets, tablecloths and flags once again for the Butterfly Hospice Trust’s annual Battle of Britain Proms Night.
The event will be held Hubberts Bridge Community Centre on Sunday, September 15.
The Swineshead Silver Band will be playing a medley of music including the traditional Proms Night songs and marches for the audience to wave their flags and sing along to old time favourites.
The doors open at 6.30pm to give the audience the opportunity to unpack their picnic hamper, set up their tables and lay out their food and wine ready for their feast – or sandwiches and crisps!
Tea and coffee will be available during the band’s break.
Chairman of the Hospice Trust Yvonne Slater said: “The Proms night is very popular and there is something special for everyone.
“One of my fondest memories is of two or three years ago when we discovered that a gentleman at the Proms Night had flown aircraft during the Second World War and appeared in the film ‘The Dam Busters’. It was marvellous to see his face light up when the Swineshead Silver Band played the Dambusters March and so they dedicated it to him.”
Tickets for this special evening can either be obtained from the Butterfly Hospice shops in Spalding and Boston or by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org or calling 01205 311222.
Tickets for the evening are £8 per person.
Funds raised will go to support the charity in its work to open the Hospice Inpatient Unit in Rowan Way, Boston.
