PATRIOTIC community groups across Boston borough have snapped up grants to help ensure their royal celebrations this summer go with a bang.
A total of 29 groups each snapped up a £100 cheque from social housing provider Boston Mayflower towards events for the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee in June.
The housing association launched an appeal for people to apply for the grants in March, and enjoyed a better-than-expected take up.
Nathan Black, PR and marketing officer for Boston Mayflower, said: “We received a great response from the community to our offers of grant funding for street parties and associated events to help celebrate the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee.
“We were delighted to hear about the efforts people will be going to in order to help others have fun and enjoy the occasion.
“Mayflower is proud to support the Boston area community in its organisation of what should be a memorable set of events within the town and surrounding villages.”
The applications were all considered by Mayflower’s five area panels, which are made up of tenants.
The money will be used for street parties and celebratory events which embrace the feel-good fervour of the Diamond Jubilee.
