Voluntary community groups serving Boston are looking forward to their chance to shine at this year’s Community Showcase.

While the event offers plenty for visitors it was formed to help give a rare moment in the spotlight for those groups who give their time and efforts to help people and causes.

One of the event’s organisers is Lincolnshire CVS’ Mandy Exley.

She said: “I cannot believe this will be the eigth year of the Boston Showcase.

“The event is about celebrating all the wonderful work that local groups and organisations provide, and the amazingly diverse range of services these groups offer.

“It never ceases to amaze me just how much we have available to us on our own doorstep.

“We would like to thank all of the groups and organisations who support the Showcase each year – especially the volunteers who give their time willingly to make up an excellent team. Without them Showcase would not be possible.”

The Boston Community Showcase takes place in Central Park, Boston, on Sunday, September 8, from 10am to 4pm. Entry and many attractions are free of charge.

If you would like to volunteer to help at this year’s Showcase, or would like to know more, call Mandy on 07949 541873.

Boston Mayor Paul Kenny is still appealing for mugs for the event. He plans to sell tea for £1 at the event, with purchasers getting to keep their mug and the proceeds going to the Salvation Army and Citizens Advice Bureau. Mugs can be handed in to the council offices in West Street.
