The cost of an error which saw customers of Boston Borough Council’s garden waste collection scheme receive too many wheelie bin stickers for this year is still unknown.
The council says it will not be able to calculate the sum until the flow of stickers being returned to it stops.
A spokesman for Boston Borough Council said: “People are handing them in at reception daily.”
Some 1,319 welcome packs were sent out in error.
The authority subsequently apologised, blaming ‘purely human error, compounded by a complicated computerised process’.
