THERE are just 76 days until Christmas, and Boston is really starting to get into the spirit of things – as plans for the town’s festive celebrations are well-underway.
A weekend-long event has been planned, with a whole host of yuletide activities to get people in the mood for the season.
The fun will get underway on Friday, November 30, with an all-day craft market in the Market Place. Stalls will be selling items including homemade toys, crafts and mulled wine. There will also be a farmers’ market.
Later that day Emmerdale stars Fiona Wade and Bhasker Patel, who play Priya and Rishi Sharma in the ITV soap, will turn on the lights, after they have taken part in a parade around the town, which is set to include children and local dignitaries.
The big switch on will take part amidst a raft of other entertainment, including performances from the Dancing Dads, Allen’s School of Dance and the cast of pantomimes at Blackfriars and Boston College.
The fun continues on Sunday, when both markets will be running once again – with many different stallholders.
Musical entertainment will continue throughout the day, starting with peformers in Oldrids and Boots, provided by Harmony Music.
Steam engines will be giving children rides around the town, and there will be a fair.
The event is being organised by Boston BID, in conjunction with Boston Borough Council.
