COUNTRY meets folk with the appearance of a fast-rising duo at Boston Folk Club on Monday.
Blackheart are Chrissy Mostyn and Rick Pilkington, widely regarded as upcoming stars of the new folk generation for both their live concerts and albums.
The last three years have seen the pair headline their own successful tours across the UK, Ireland, Australia and New Zealand, complete a major city tour as a guest of Jaret Osmand, perform a TV commercial soundtrack and secure worldwide radio play, including BBC Radio 2’s Song of the Day twice.
Their songwriting blends folk, country and even rock influences to create finely-crafted, instantly memorable songs that have been labelled ‘urban folk’.
The highly personal lyrics cover subjects such as hometowns, marriage, faith, redundancy and bereavement.
The duo’s live shows showcase Chrissy’s distinctive vocals and some superb acoustic guitar playing from Rick, with entertaining audience interaction.
The show at Boston Folk Club is on Monday, May 9, upstairs at the Eagle in West Street.
The music starts at 8.15pm.
