Cleaner found drunk on sofa by employers

A WOMAN who fell asleep drunk at the home of her employers has been fined for being drunk and disorderly.

Cleaner Lisa Watson’s employers called the police after they became concerned when she was lying drunk on the sofa on June 22, the prosecution said. Officers arrived to find her asleep with an empty bottle of vodka at her side, said Marie Stace, for the crown.

She added that when they managed to rouse the 37-year-old, of High Street, Swineshead, she became aggressive, and once they took her outside she was verbally abusive towards the officers and the ambulance crew which was called to deal with her. She continued to be aggressive to the extent that staff at Pilgrim Hospital refused to treat her and sent her back to police custody, Ms Stace said.

Watson, who was not represented by a solicitor, said: “I am very sorry for my actions. It was out of order and I apologise.”

She also breached a conditional discharge which had been imposed less than a month before this incident.

On Wednesday Magistrates fined her £35 and gave her a £15 conditional discharge to pay. They gave no separate penalty for the breach.
