An elderly Boston woman has had her house burgled while she slept upstairs.

A police spokesman said they received a call at 6.30am today (Thursday), on behalf of the 94-year-old woman, to say the Horncastle Road resident had been burgled overnight.

The spokesman said two beige handbags were taken along with alcohol from her drinks cabinet, and police believe access was gained to the house through a lounge window.

It is also understood the following items were taken: two shopping bags, a carriage clock, brass candlesticks, a small brass bowl, a bucket of bingo pens and two piggy banks.

Anyone with information or who saw anything suspicious is asked to call police number 101 with incident number 58 of August 7, 2014.
