Wednesday: 11.40am: A man was today remanded in custody charged with the murders of two people and an attempted murder following Sunday morning’s incident in Boston.

Mehmet Ali Ozen, 41, of Red Lion Street, Boston, is accused of murdering 26 year old Charlotte Piccaver and Darren Harwood, also 26, on Sunday.

He is also accused of the attempted murder of 24-year-old Keyleigh Wright on the same date.

Ozen, a Turkish-born British national, spoke only to confirm his name, address and date of birth via a Turkish interpreter during the five minute hearing before Lincoln Magistrates.

No application for bail was made and he was remanded in custody to appear before Lincoln Crown Court tomorrow (Thursday).

The charges follow an incident at a property in Red Lion Street, Boston, early on Sunday morning. Charlotte Piccaver was pronounced dead at the scene and Darren Harwood died later in the Pilgrim Hospital, Boston. Both had suffered stab wounds.

Keyleigh Wright was taken to the same hospital where she was treated for ‘less serious injuries’.

Wednesday, 9pm: A man has been charged by police in relation to the double murder in Boston on Sunday.

Mehmet Ozen, 41, of Red Lion Street, Boston, has been charged with the murder of Charlotte Piccaver and Darren Harwood and the attempted murder of a third female, in Red Lion Street.

Police confirmed he was a British national of Turkish origin, and had been in the country more than 10 years.

Despite rumours linking him to businesses in the town, it is understood Ozen was unemployed at the time of arrest.

Ozen will be appearing at Lincoln Magistrates Court today (Wednesday).
