UPDATE: Man’s body found in vehicle in water-filled ditch


A body has been found inside a car which ended up upside down in a ditch in Antons Gowt this morning (Friday).

Police were called to the site of the collision at Leagate Road at 8am.

A force spokesman said: “Sadly, we can confirm that the body of a 32 year-old local man was discovered inside the vehicle.

“This fatality brings to seven the number killed on Lincolnshire’s roads this year, compared to 12 at the same point in 2013.”

The vehicle has been recovered from the site. However, the road is closed while forensics are carried out.

It is understood the man is from Carrington.

A post-mortem is due to be carried out in due course.

Thursday, 9.21am – A car has landed upside down in a water-filled ditch following a collision in Antons Gowt this morning (Friday)

A Lincolnshire Police spokesman said the force was called shortly before 8am, and told about the vehicle at the side of Leagate Road.

They said emergency services are currently at the scene attempting to enter the vehicle. It is not clear whether there was anyone inside the car at the time of the collision.
