Police have confirmed a 19 year-old man has died in the road collision at Swineshead Bridge this morning (Sunday).

A spokesman for Lincolnshire Police said a short while ago: “We were called to the scene of the crash involving a horsebox and a Mercedes at around 7am this morning.

“Sadly, the driver of the Mercedes has passed away. Next of kin have been informed and our thoughts are with his family and friends.

“The road is closed and will remain so for a significant amount of time.

“Motorists should avoid the area well into the afternoon.”

Police are now appealing for any witnesses to come forward who have may have seen the collision or the moments before.

10.02am: Emergency services are in the scene at at A17 at Swineshead Bridge near Boston which has been closed following a serious road collision. A Lincolnshire Police spokesperson said at this morning (Sunday): “We are at the scene of a serious collision on the A17 at Swineshead Bridge.

“The incident, which took place at around 7am, involves a horsebox and a Mercedes.

“The road will soon be closed and motorists should avoid the area.”

It is not yet known if anyone has been injured or if there were animals in the horsebox.

Any witnesses to the collision are asked to call police by dialling 101 and quoting incident number 94 of today’s date.
