Defra role for Boston MP Mark Simmonds

TUESDAY - BOSTON and Skegness MP Mark Simmonds has been appointed parliamentary private secretary to Rt. Hon. Caroline Spelman MP, secretary of state for the Deapartment for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (Defra).

Parliamentary Private Secretaries (PPS) support the Cabinet Minister in their roles, and Mark Simmonds has been given particular responsibility for helping Defra develop flooding and coastal policy.

He said: "I am delighted to be appointed to this role, and to have the opportunity to work on issues so important to residents of Boston and Skegness, such as farming, fishing and flooding."
