Are you eligible to vote? Make sure you are properly registered.

That’s the message from Boston Borough Council ahead of a national campaign (from February 1-7) to encourage more people to register to vote.

You can go online now to register and you will be ready to have your say in the next election taking place on Thursday, May 5, to elect the Police and Crime Commissioner.

There is also set to be a referendum by the end of next year, on whether or not we should remain in the European Union.

The deadline to register to vote in the commissioner referendum is Monday, April 18. All British, Irish, Commonwealth and European Union citizens aged 18 or over will be eligible to vote in the Police and Crime Commissioner elections, subject to be being registered. However, European Union citizens will not be able to vote in the EU Referendum.

You can register online at www.gov.uk/register-to-vote. You can also get a paper copy of the registration form by calling 01205 314220/314221.
