Boston Grammar School will reopen for students tomorrow (Tuesday) – but there will be several areas of the school which will not be used as a result of last week’s flood.

Principal Paul Marsh explained that during the tidal surge on Thursday night the River Haven ‘ran straight through the site’ particularly affecting the music block, the science block and the sports hall.

He said: “We tentatively looked into the potential of the site, and have had offers from other schools which we are grateful for, but at the moment we think we can house everybody in non-specialist teaching areas.

“We can house children, we just have to deliver the timetable in a different way.”

He said the school was thankful for the Environment Agency whose advice had helped keep some of the school’s 500 year history from being lost to the waters.

He also thanked sixth form students who had come into the school with brooms and helped to get water out.
