TWO Boston borough federated schools have been awarded bronze for the healthy food they promote and serve to pupils.
Sutterton Fourfields C or E Primary School and Swineshead St Mary’s C of E Primary School have been awarded the Food for Life Partnership award for their healthy and climate-friendly food culture.
Executive head teacher, Rob Little, said: “We always endeavour to provide the best of everything for the children in our care, from the education they receive to the dining experience at lunchtime.”
The schools are working with the Partnership to transform their food culture, and that of the local community, by reconnecting the children with climate-friendly, healthy and real food.
As part of the bronze award scheme, Sutterton and Swineshead have started to serve seasonal school meals, 75 per cent of which are freshly prepared by The Farm Kitchen.
The school also gives every pupil the opportunity to visit a farm, cook and participate in food growing activities, including raising a chicken and cooking the eggs.
