AMBULANCES dealt with 900 more calls than usual over the weekend. East Midlands Ambulance Service had 6,335 calls from Thursday to Sunday. Just 1,837 were immediately life-threatening.
As the cold snap continues they are urging people to only dial 999 in cases of emergency and the most serious illnesses.
