North Lincolnshire Council is planning to explore ways of transforming the street scene in North Lincolnshire to cut costs, get rid of complicated signs and make the area look tidier.

This follows recent guidance from the Government that focuses on the need to reduce sign clutter to make road safety messages clear, improve our landscapes and save taxpayers’ money.

“This new Government guidance has opened up the opportunities available for tidying up our street scene,” said Coun Rob Waltham, Deputy Leader of North Lincolnshire Council.

“We do have some ideas in mind; however we have to look into the potential and possibilities of these before a final decision is made.

“We want to make North Lincolnshire clutter free and easy to navigate around.

“Quite often signs can become confusing, especially for visitors who are not used to the roads.

“The beautiful North Lincolnshire landscape should not be affected by too many road signs, signals and barriers.

“More responsibility will be put onto drivers and pedestrians to consider their own safety if changes are implemented to signs across our communities.”
