Team attempts to save ‘gasping’ fish in Boston rivers

WORK has been taking place on Boston’s waterways to save fish stocks from suffocation.

The Environment Agency’s Anglian region northern area team has been at North Forty Foot Drain pumping station to increase oxygen levels in the water.

Fisheries staff from the team, which covers the Boston area, responded after receiving reports of fish seen gasping for air at the surface of the water.

They are expected to continue the work at the pumping station for the next few days.

If you see any dead or gasping fish report it to the Environment Agency’s 24-hour incident hotline on 0800 807060
