Escaped parakeet reunited with owner after adventures round Worksop
The crafty parakeet, an Eastern Rosella named Rio, broke free from his enclosure last Wednesday (February 17).
Bryan Morgan, who lives on Coppice Street, was astonished to see Rio feeding in his garden and contacted the Guardian who began a campaign on social media to find the bird’s owner.

“But I knew that it was at risk from predators and also from the incredibly cold weather we have been having, so I was eager to find who it belonged to.”
With the help of social media Rio’s owner, Barry Walker, was tracked down and he and Bryan spent the next day attempting to capture the reluctant bird.
Rio was eventually caught and safely transported back to Barry’s avary a mile away on Coniston Road.
Barry said: “Rio is a bit of a pro at this- it’s not the first time he’s tried to escape. Hopefully, he’ll now be back with us for good.”
