Those who fancied trying their hands at being a fire-fighter were put through their paces at an open day at Skegness Fire Station.
Among people attending the event, a few brave ones tried out some hair-raising exercises as a taster for the brigade’s entry tests.
They included braving the fire smoke house, assembling equipment, ladder climbing and casualty evacuation.
The event ran from 10am to 2pm at the station where visitors were invited to “come along and see if you’ve got what it takes to be one of these hidden heroes”.
Lincolnshire Fire and Rescue say their on-call firefighters are “every day people, just like me and you”.
A spokesman added: “They might be your neighbour, your friend or your work colleague, but there’s more to them than meets the eye. No matter where they are, they’re ready to take the call and save a life.”
Participants spoke to the crew to see what it was like to be a firefighter – with four people applying on the day.
