Party night fun proved a £1,000 double hit for charitable funds.

A social get-together for family and friends, organised by Geoff Dodson, of Boston, took place in the Falklands Suite at the Conservative Club. There were added ingredients of a raffle and auction helping to generate cash for Macmillan Cancer Support and Cancer Research UK, both causes close to hearts of the Dodson family.

More than 100 people attended the function. Mr Dodson (pictured third right) was joined by his son Steve (second left) and daughters Jackie (left), Kim, Nikki and Lisa – all travelling from far and near to join their father’s fundraising venture.

Mr Dodson said: “I had said for some time that I would organise a social gathering and this also seemed an appropriate time to raise money for causes that I, my family and several of my friends have become familiar with down the years.
“It was a great evening and it was amazing that we hit £1,000. A big debt of gratitude has to go to people who donated prizes and supported our fundraising on the night. Two worthy charities will benefit greatly from everyone’s generosity.”
