Two fundraisers inspired by a Boston man’s fight against cancer have brought in thousands for good causes.
Richard Laight, 55, was diagnosed with cancer in October of last year.
In response, the father-of-three organised a charity calendar of ‘silly selfies’ in support of Macmillan Cancer Care and Blackfriars Theatre and Arts Centre.
This year, after he was told there was no further treatment available for him, friends organised a concert in his name and for the same two causes. A Concert For Richard was held last Tuesday at Blackfriars.
The two fundraisers combined raised £4,000.
Richard paid tribute to all those who supported the charity drives, describing the concert as ‘a fantastic night and truly humbling’.
Richard is due to take part in a marathon golf session for Macmillan Cancer Care on Friday. To donate, visit www.justgiving.com/fundraising/Richard-Laight
