Hermione has excelled in a host of sports including hockey and football and also competes in athletics for Nene Valley Harriers, breaking her personal bests in the long jump and high jump and her own school high jump record in the last year.

Her brother William – himself an all-round sportsman – also enjoyed success on the night, being crowned Junior Sportsman of the Year.

Hermione could not attend the night herself due to an exam and hockey match, but her proud dad collected the prizes on her behalf.

He said: “She’s worked very hard and she’s chuffed to bits.”

On being the father of two young sporting stars, he said: “They love their sports. I am very, very proud of both of them.”

The night was hosted by BBC Radio Lincolnshire breakfast show host Scott Dalton with many of the awards handed out by Boston United boss Dennis Greene.

Standard editor Stephen Stray said: “We’re delighted to be able to honour Boston’s finest sporting talent.

“These people represent our borough every week and give us all something to be proud of.

“It’s only right that we pause and recognise the fantastic achievements they make and these awards are a great opportunity to do just that.

“I’d like to congratulate everyone nominated for the awards.”

Nominees were put forward by Boston Standard readers. Readers then cast their votes for the winners in each category, with the Overall Achiever being chosen by headline sponsor the Waterfront.
