Gritters blessed as cold snap continues to bite

GRITTERS in Boston have been involved in a county-wide blessing for winter road safety.

The Rev Julie Doddrell and the Rev Ian Evans along with other church representatives and leaders carried out the blessing at the Lincolnshire County Council Highways Depot, Chain Bridge Road.

Other blessings also took place in Lincoln, North Willingham, Horncastle, Ancaster, Manby, Pode Hole and Thurlby.

Meanwhile during the Arctic temperatures which have gripped the UK temperatures have not risen above freezing, according to Boston weatherman Albert Kirkham.

On Monday, there was a maximum temperature of -3C (26F), while on Sunday, there was a maximum of 0C (32F).

On Saturday, there was a maximum of -1C (30F) and a minimum of -8C (18F).

And on Thursday and Friday, temperatures reached a maximum of -7C (44F).
