A mobile chemotherapy unit will be making visits to Pilgrim Hospital thanks to cancer charity Hope for Tomorrow.

The unit, which will officially launch in May 2014, will allow some cancer patients to receive their treatments at a location much closer to home, rather than travelling to hospital sites.

United Lincolnshire Hospital Trust has committed additional funding for nursing staff and the running of the unit.

Dr Kandeepan Saravanamuttu, Clinical Director, said “Securing a mobile chemotherapy unit is great news for cancer patients in Lincolnshire.

“It will allow us to extend our chemotherapy service across the county and significantly reduce the amount of travel time for some patients. We are grateful to Hope for Tomorrow. ”
