Two inspirational nurses have been handed top awards for their service and dedication to patients in and around the town.
Becky Portess, the case manager at Parkside Surgery, and Vicky Ripley – the senior sexual health nurse for Boston Health Centre – were both rewarded for their work as part of the International Nurses’ Day celebrations.
The annual event sees nurses at the Lincolnshire Community Health Services NHS Trust nominated by their peers, patients and also their bosses for their hard work.
Sue Cousland, chief nurse and director of operations at LCHS, said: “It’s wonderful to be able to celebrate our profession and the individuals who work tirelessly in our communities to aid recovery from illness.
“The nominations we received came from patients, carers, colleagues, and even local nursing homes who have told us why they find our nurses so inspirational and invaluable.
“I am very proud of them all.”
Boston should be especially proud as health workers from the town provided two of the five award winners in the county.
Becky was praised for her excellent leadership skills, as well as providing high-quality care to patients.
She was said to have a real passion for community nursing.
Vicky was applauded for her enthusiasm.
She also has an awareness of marginalised groups of clients, having recently had a paper published concerning sexually associated and transmitted infections in the lesbian population.
