Historian’s talk will commemorate village’s First World War dead

An experienced historian will give a talk on the Great War tomorrow night (Tuesday) – and will talk about some of those named on Sibsey’s war memorial.

Kenneth Wood will be the guest at the event, which will take place at Sibsey Northlands Village Hall at 7.30pm.

Joy Ladds who is organising the event said: “We are very fortunate to have Kenneth coming to speak as he has a great deal of knowledge and passion about the First World War.

“Our parish council has commissioned work to put the names of Sibsey’s fallen on our memorial, and I was keen to arrange events to mark both the centenary and this restoration work.”

Along with the talk by Mr Wood there will be artefacts from the war on display and a presentation by the Lincolnshire Memorial project.

This is a project run by Lincolnshire County Council with Heritage Lottery and Armed Forces Community Covenant funding which is researching and recording war memorials in Lincolnshire.

Admittance is free but donations to the Royal British Legion and MacMillan Cancer Research will be gratefully received. For more information on the event contact Joy Ladds on 01205 750531.
