Homelessness ‘will become worse in Boston’

HOMELESSNESS in Boston may become an even bigger issue in Boston as swingeling benefit cuts take effect, a council committee was told last night.

Boston Borough Council’s scrutiny committee into corporate and community matters heard at its meeting last night that Boston was considered a homelessness hotspot in Lincolnshire, and things could be getting worse as the Government’s welfare reforms come into play.

The discussion was based on the Lincolnshire Homelessness Strategy, which is currently under consideration by all authorities throughout the county.

Councillors made the decision to move the report on to the authority’s cabinet for further consideration, saying more work was required on the draft document.
