Excel Bubble Football is coming to Kirton in July.

‘A lot of bumping, bouncing, rolling and laughing’ is promised in a bizarre take on the World Cup coming to Kirton this summer.

The Bubble World Cup 2015 will see players ‘wearing’ inflatable bubbles as they aim to show off their ball skills – with hilarious results.

The tournament, at Kirton Middlecott sports centre on Sunday, July 26, will see teams go head-to-head to be crowned champions.

Money raised by the event will go to The Butterfly Hospice in Boston.

Organiser Andy Butterworth said: “Dust off you vuvuzelas, forget about Brazil 2014 – this is Kirton 2015 Bubble World Cup.

“Once the whistle starts, everybody flies straight in, there’s a lot of bumping, bouncing, rolling and laughing, especially from the spectators. You and your friends will be laughing for days after.

“Bubble Football combines the best aspects of two completely different things to create a truly unique experience.

“With the well-loved sport of football being played in giant bubbles, it becomes an incredibly hilarious activity to try out with all types of people: whether it be friends, family or even complete strangers.”

Mr Butterworth, who helped to organise this year’s Big Bike Ride for the hospice, said he believes this is the first bubble football event in the Boston area.

“It’s big in America and has been featured on the BBC and Sky Sports,” he added.

The format of the tournament will follow the World Cup theme – but with matches lasting 10 minutes each.

Each team will play a minimum of three games. Teams can pick a country to represent or make one up - producing their own flags and kit if they wish. There are slots for 30 teams, so places are limited. The games are open to men and women over the age of 16.

The tournament kicks-off with the first match at 10am.
