Jeremy Corbyn elected as new Labour party leader

Labour party members in the area have a new national leader in the shape of MP Jeremy Corbyn today (Saturday).

Mr Corbyn, MP for Islington North, has been announced as the winner of the race to lead the party taking 59.5 per cent of the vote.

The deputy party leader was announced as MP Tom Watson, MP for West Bromwich East, with 50.7 per cent of the vote.
