Commercial vehicle recovery specialists from Kirton Holme were called in this morning when a bus became stuck on a grass verge after being diverted away from the scene of a fatal accident.

A 31-year-old man died shortly after 3am today (Saturday) in a single vehicle accident when his car hit a tree on Holbeach Road, the A151 between the McDonald’s A16 roundabout and a roundabout near Baytree Garden Centre at Weston.

The Norfolk Green double-decker became stuck on a grass verge on Broadgate, between Weston and the B1165 at Austendyke, as it followed a diversion route taking traffic away from the scene of the tragic accident.

Cosby’s were working to free the bus in Broadgate at about 9.45am.

• Police have not yet named the man who died. The man, from Poland, had been living at an address in Spalding.
