Drivers travelling on the A1121 Boardsides have been flouting the rules of a one-way closure on the busy route.
Lincolnshire County Council’s highways department has closed the westbound carriage of the road while work is done to introduce another lane at the road’s junction with the A17.
But a number of people have been driving through the closed lane during the closure – and the council has issued a warning saying this type of behaviour will not be tolerated.
Martyn Allen, network and development manager, said: “Irresponsible motorists are driving through a one-way westbound road closure on the A1121, putting other drivers and our workforce at risk of severe injury.
“The closure and diversion route is well signed in advance from the A52 at Boston, and at the B1192 at Hubberts Bridge and just before the works site.
“We will not tolerate dangerous driving practices and are passing vehicle details to the police for further action.”
The closure has been in place since yesterday and will be removed tomorrow. The entire road will be shut from Monday until Wednesday while the slip road is resurfaced.
