Mr Richard Carrington

RICHARD Carrington (Dick), of Arundel Crescent, Boston, has died at Pilgrim Hospital following an illness. He was 66.

Born in Boston, he lived in this area his whole life. A married man, he is survived by wife Mary, brother David, daughters Joanne Melson and Andrea Pikett, granddaughter Amy Melson and grandsons Daniel, Reece and Finley Pikett.

During his working life, Mr Carrington was a joiner/carpenter from 1959-2002, followed by Boston United stadium manager from 2002-05 before becoming maintenance manager from 2005-09 when he retired in June.

He was very interested in Boston United Football Club and worked as a matchday safety officer, volunteered to carry out maintenance duties and was a previous board member/director of the club.

He was also a member of Boston Squash Club since 1979.

He played in the Sunday Football League and played football for the Taverners in the 1970s.

His funeral took place at St Thomas’ Church, Boston, and was followed by cremation. The service was officiated by the Rev John Moore.

Chief family mourners were: Mary Carrington (wife), David Carrington (brother), Joanne Melson and Andrea Pikett (daughters), Amy Melson (granddaughter), Daniel Pikett, Reece Pikett and Finley Pikett (grandsons), June Carrington and Judith Spencer (sisters-in-law), Martin Spencer and James Broughton (brothers-in-law), Pat Carrington, Vicki Spencer and Caroline Spencer (nieces) Alan Broughton (nephew), Graham Melson and Stephen Pikett (sons-in-law) and Stewart and Isabel Pikett (Stephen’s parents).
