IRIS Valerie Tansley, nee Bocock, of Carlton Road, Boston, has died at Boston Pilgrim Hospital after a short illness.
She was 77.
Born in Boston, she had lived in the area her whole life.
A widow, she leaves sons John and Keith Tansley, daughter Elaine McGarry, sister May Jeffries, granddaughter Emma McGarry, grandson Daryl McGarry and great-granddaughter Jessica Stones.
She spent her lifetime as a housewife and mother. In her spare time she enjoyed crosswords, watching sports on TV and played in darts and quiz leagues.
She also spent time writing to her long time pen friend of 30 years.
She attended the pop-in at Holy Trinity Church and day centres at Ingelow Manor and Richmond House in the town.
Her funeral service was held at Boston Crematorium and was conducted by Simon Dowson. It was followed by cremation.
Chief family mourners were: John Tansley and Karen Gilchrist (son and partner), Keith and Alison Tansley (son and daughter-in-law), Elaine McGarry and Colin Sampson (daughter and partner), May Jefferies (sister), Emma McGarry and Ian Stones (granddaughter and partner) and Daryl McGarry (grandson).
