With the year coming to an end, now is a good time to reflect upon all the superb sporting achievements from the past 12 months.

Yes, once again it’s time for the Boston Standard’s Sports Awards.

And to make sure that no brilliance goes unsung, we are asking you - our readers - to once again nominate the sportsmen and women, as well as the teams, youngsters and coaches, who have played a big part in sport this year.

On December 5 we shall be hosting our annual awards night at the Assembly Rooms.

But first, we want you to tell us who you think should be nominated for an award - check out this week’s paper for details on how to nominate.

There will be 10 categories for you to choose from - so there is room for everyone to receive the recognition you believe they deserve.

Whether it was an exceptional season, a trophy win, overcoming all the odds, an act of inspiration or even just a display of great team spirit, we want to hear from you.

We welcome nominations for all categories, but those nominated must live in the Boston Standard’s readership area or represent a team in our patch.

Also, their successes must have been achieved in the year 2014.

The deadline to submit your nominations will be noon on November 10.

Successful nominations will then appear in The Standard, where readers have the final say, voting on who they believe should win the trophies.

Once again, this year’s headline sponsor will be The Waterfront while Dwehurst Trophies will be providing the trophies.

There will also be an Overall Achiever award, sponsored by The
Waterfront, which will be selected from the evening’s winners.

There are still some categories left to sponsor.

If your company would like to sponsor a category or donate prizes for the winners, contact Linda Pritchard or Becky Hawkes on 01476 541434 or 541433 for more information.
