Virtually the whole village must have turned out to see the official opening of Digby's new War Memorial Hall, by village benefactor Fred Gresswell.

The hall cost £11,755 to build in 1967 on land bought by Mr Gresswell.

About £1,000 was still needed to be raised by the villagers. A lot of work had been done by young people of Digby Youth Club and they presented £135 from a sponsored 12-mile walk.

A dedication service was led by Bishop Healey, the former Bishop of Grimsby, Rev C Clarke Vicar of Digby, and Methodist Minister Rev C Stark of Ruskington.

Can you see any familiar faces in the crowd? Has the hall changed much since then?
