Jamie’s going the extra miles for charity

Most 10-year-olds would feel pretty proud of themselves after completing a three-mile run - but young Jamie Hill is preparing to push himself a lot further.

Not only will Jamie compete in today’s (Sunday’s) Woodhall Spa 5k challenge, he will also cycle to the event and back from his Sibsey home.

That would mean clocking up a total of 38 miles in one day - 17-and-a-half miles each way on two wheels, with a three-mile run in between.

Jamie - who is a member of Boston Wheelers Cycling Club - came up with the idea to put in the extra miles after taking up the Olympic Legacy Challenge at school.

Inspired by the London 2012 games, the nationwide scheme aims to inspire children across the country to become more physically active.

And Jamie, a pupil at Sibsey Free Primary School, is also hoping to raise money to fight motor neurone disease, a cause close to his family’s heart.

He originally set a target of raising £100, but has already more than doubled that.
