A plumber who volunteered his services to help the victims of the tidal surge in 2013 has been nominated for a top competition.
Stewart Norris, 41, of Woodside, Boston, has been shortlisted as the only Lincolnshire plumber in the running for the inaugural UK Plumber of the Year 2015 competition set up by shower tray manufacturer JT and shower and tap company Bristan.
Stewart, who owns Stewart Norris Plumbing and Heating Ltd,is in the final 10 of the competition after being nominated for his ‘selfless actions’ when he took to Facebook to offer his services pumping homes and businesses free of charge following the floods.
He said: “It’s fantastic. To me I have already won by getting to that stage of the competition.”
The competition is designed to reward and acknowledge the talents of UK plumbers and ask entrants to demonstrate their plumbing, service and business skills.
The winner will receive £5,000 worth of JT and Bristan products, a session with a marketing company on how to maximise the award and support their profile/business, a CAT smart-phone for a year, Helly Hanson clothing and a CK Tools MagmaTool Tote.
Managing director of JT Paul Crossley said: “We were impressed with his selfless action pumping homes and businesses free of charge when his home town of Boston was flooded in 2013, thus reaching over 10,000 people through the power of social media.
“We are also really impressed with the modern technology that he uses to diagnose problems with appliances for his customers.”
