Police welcome new stalking laws

A spokesman for Lincolnshire Police said the force has welcomed new stalking legislation, which encourages mroe effective action against offenders in the UK.

The change in the laws, which were introduced by the Home Office last week, state that police should prioritise protecting and preserving the safety of victims, investigate all reports of stalking and harrassment, facilitate effective action and adopt a proactive approach to preventing stalking.

Det Supt Rick Hatton said: “We are committed to these priorities and would encourage victims of stalking and harassment to report what is happening. The impact of stalking and harassment on victims, families and communities can be devastating.”
