Residents from across Boston borough are invited to an informal meeting in Stickford to have their say on Britain’s future in the European Union.

Views from the meeting will be given to Boston and Skegness MP Mark Simmonds to pass on to the Government.

The evening, of February 28, has been organised by East Lindsey district councillor Victoria Ayling who wants to give Boston-area residents the opportunity to influence government policy.

“All of us are affected by the EU and I think it’s only right that local people should have a say about it,” she said.

Coun Ayling says she has been bombarded with calls and emails from people with concerns and suggestions about Britain’s relationship with Europe.

“There have been concerns about how much the EU costs, while others have suggestions on how we can get Europe to work better for us,” she said.

“Also with Boston hitting the headlines recently due to the numbers of immigrants settling as a result of our membership of the European Union, Europe is very relevant to our community.”

The meeting is informal but will be structured so that everyone will be able to have their say and be involved.

Coun Ayling added: “Everyone is welcome to attend, regardless of political persuasion.”

The meeting is taking place at the Red Lion pub in Church Road.

It starts at 7.15pm on February 28 and entry is free.
