Hero art gets 50 nominations

A project to celebrate the town’s unsung heroes has had a ‘brilliant response’ according to organisers.

Boston Hero organised by Transported and Boston Borough Council will be used to create artwork to be placed on the side of Boston Borough Council’s fleet of refuse collection trucks.

The nomination process has now closed, with nearly 50 individuals, committees and groups, put forward, including cleaners, health care workers, teachers and performers.

Artist Sarah Brown was set to do 12 artworks and the finished artworks will now have Boston borough backdrops with multiple roles depicted within that backdrop as appropriate. Not all nominations will be able to be featured but they will get something from Sarah.

Sarah said: “It was lovely to meet with people who have such a passion for making the borough a better place to live.

“Whilst I spent time with each of the groups of people I got a great sense of community spirit and effort put into the keeping the place clean and tidy as well as including sections of the community that may otherwise become isolated. ”

The artwork will go on the lorries in September, and on October 8, they will be in Boston Market Place from 4-6pm.
