TYPHOON jets from RAF Coningsby flew to London for the 2012 Olympics closing ceremony last night (Sunday).

An RAF spokesman told The Standard their involvement was part of pre-planned air security measures for the Olympics.

Station commander, group captain ‘Sammy’ Sampson said: “The pilots and engineers here at Coningsby were proud to be playing their part last night, helping to ensure a safe and secure closure to the Olympic Games.”
