UNEMPLOYMENT figures show the number of people out of work in Boston has continued to fall.
The number of Jobseeker Allowance claimants for the Boston and Skegness constituency peaked at five per cent in February.
Since then the numbers have dropped and the latest numbers, for June, put the figure at 3.8 per cent, or 2,181 people.
Boston and Skegness MP Mark Simmonds said: “The latest unemployment figures are encouraging news in what is still an incredibly difficult economic climate.
“Not only is unemployment falling but in overall terms there are now almost 100,000 fewer people on benefits since the 2010 election nationwide.
“We still have a long way to go but this is a step in the right direction.
“The falling unemployment figures are evidence that measures taken by this Government have done much to reassure businesses that it is safe to take on new workers.
“Our commitment to apprenticeships and the work programme have also gone a long way to improving opportunities for people across the UK.”
