Recycled look to new phone shop
James Hodcroft and his fiancee Kelly Murray, from Greylees, opened their new shop in White Hart Mews in town last week as a base for their mobile phone and tablet repair business, as well as selling accessories having researched the local market and seeing a demand there.
James said: “I am an actor and film producer and we started this up by accident.”

Hide AdBoth James and Kelly worked in senior roles in major mobile phone companies and James said it was handy to know how to repair his own equipment in film production.
The couple started the business in January getting a huge response from an initial post on Facebook. Most of their clients preferred not to be bombarded with techno speak, liking the family business with very competitive rates.
James said: “We have spent five weeks kitting out the shop with upcycled, recycled and landfill rescue items. We tiled the toilets in broken CDs given to us by the local charity shops.”
They got more waste materials from Homebase including a section of work surface.

Hide AdHe said they opted for a more homely, unintimidating approach with a comfortable seating area to chat over a coffee.
James added: “We wanted to ensure there was a family business our three children could be involved in.”
