Residents are being reminded by Boston Borough Council that registration opens on Monday for the borough council’s changes to its kerbside brown bin collections.
People can register online from midnight, or by visiting the council office’s in West Street, or calling 01205 311112 during opening hours from Tuesday.
The authority recently decided to bring in new charges of £30 for the first bin to be emptied and £15 for any additional bins to be emptied in an attempt to save a service which it says is discretionary for council’s.
There is also a £25 cost for purchasing the bin, which will be delivered to the resident, when joining the service.
As a result of the new charge it says it will also be able to open and close the collection season longer - this year collections resume from Tuesday, March 1.
The brown bin collections in March will be free, but from April 1 residents will need to be registered and have paid for the service, to continue to receiving collections until December.
