The first ever annual Toot Lane Allotment Association scarecrow competition has proved to be great success.
Robert Hackett, Chairman of the allotments association, said: “This competition saw lots of scarecrows and the standards were amazing.
“Thank you to everyone who joined in this competition. A great time was had by all and we are all very much looking forward to next year’s competition.”
The competition saw eight scarecrows enter and be judged by Jenny Moore, Boston Borough Council’s environmental and sustainability officer. The winners were the South family who won a £20 gift voucher sponsored by Bell’s Nursery, Benington, Boston. And there was two runners-up, Paul Blackman and Donna Lumley, who both received a gardening-themed mug courtesy of Boston Council.
Jenny said: “I was so impressed with the variety of entries. They were all amazing and so much effort had gone into every single one of them.”
