HAVEN High Technology College has held its third annual school production joined by three other schools in the Boston Witham School Federation.

The Wizard of Oz production was the biggest to date, as Haven High, St Bede’s Catholic Science College, Staniland and Carlton Road primary all took to the stage.

With a cast and crew of almost 100 the audience was whisked away to follow Dorothy (Becky Huggins) on her adventure, under the dedicated production team of Jack Luffman, Vanessa Adams and Terry Patman.

Becky provided a performance as polished and professional as one can expect from a school production.

In Oz, the adorable Munchkins, (Carlton Road and Staniland pupils) danced with joy after Dorothy’s house killed the Wicked Witch of the East.

The Good Witch of the North (Charlotte Hicks) tells her only the Wizard of Oz can get her home.

On Dorothy’s journey she encounters the Wicked Witch of the West (Lulu Albelda) and is joined by the Scarecrow (Kelly Greenhalgh), the Tinman (Liam Holland) and the cowardly Lion (Harry Hextall) singing If I Were King of the Forest.

Dorothy and her friends set off for the Emerald City where they meet Ryan Mitcham, Tiago Torres and Ricardo Lopes, who gleamed as guards.

In a tremendous adhoc acting display, the great Wizard of Oz, played by John Luffman triumphed after having just weeks to rehearse and he sets Dorothy and her friends the task of killing the Wicked Witch of the West.

On her journey, Dorothy encounters the Jitterbugs and the Monkeys (Staniland and Carlton Primary). When the good news tolls out: ‘Ding Dong! The Witch is Dead’, for the reprise and amazingly 16th song of the night, it is sung by the choirs of Carlton and Staniland.

It was clear to see this group had the brains, the heart and the nerve to put on an incredible performance.
