Schoolchildren in Boston being sent home early due to weather conditions

High winds and fears of flooding this evening are resulting in schoolchildren being sent home early this afternoon.

Boston Grammar School and Boston High School are both sending students home early if they require bus travel.

A statement on the grammar school’s website reads: “The Environment Agency is currently showing a storm surge flood risk for our area for this evening and Lincolnshire County Council have asked us to send students home early, to allow buses to return to depots, should evacuation be needed in any areas later.

“Students therefore travelling by bus are now being sent home as the bus companies arrive with us, and your child may arrive home earlier than expected.

“Students travelling on foot and by bicycle/car should be able to leave at the normal time, as the storm surge is not expected until 7.30 this evening.”

No-one from William Lovell school was available to comment.
